Review: This film is a metaphor for Jungian banality of human existence and our constant need to redefine our social roles in the world to justify our nature. We wear masks so as not to hide who we are, but to convince others that our behavior is okay. The breadwinning father sends his leeching family. The hard-working housewife / mother owning her role as she does not have to face life as a failed writer. The irresponsible sister went out on a party so no one will notice what a terrible babysitter she is. The babysitter who embrace his job alone Because of his actual (floundering) profession as a pot dealer is at edge with his second career as a noise band leader. Maybe he could justify their coexisting real jobs continue selling pot and changing musical ambitions of his to a Grateful Dead cover band, or continues its noise-band venture, but seasonal select meth instead. Perhaps most disturbing is the two year old, shows superior intelligence to all the other characters, preferring to languish in barely sensible comments and dirty diapers, so he does not need to be responsible for the skit on be the most entertaining character in this potpourri of retarded existentialism. |
